Privacy Policy

Bearing is a personal emotional check-in app. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We keep it short and specific, with no boilerplate.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your emotional or mental health data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes. Ever.

1. What we collect

We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, microphone access, or any data unrelated to the app's function.

If you choose to link a therapist, we additionally collect:

Bearing uses a small number of infrastructure providers. Each receives only the data necessary to do their job:

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any advertising or tracking SDKs.

4. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your data, including check-ins, notes, insights, and account information, is deleted promptly, within 30 days at most. We do not retain backups of deleted accounts beyond that window.

5. Your rights and controls

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to restrict processing and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us at the address below to exercise these rights.

6. Children's privacy

Bearing is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you via the email address on your account at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
